Terms of use

These terms apply to everyone who uses Hauntable, a free online pool game. By playing, as a guest or with an account, you accept them. What we do with your data is in the privacy policy.

1. The game

Hauntable is free and runs in your browser; the internet connection is yours. We do our best to keep it running but can't promise it always is: it can stop for maintenance, updates or outages, and its features can change or go away.

2. Accounts

  • An account is made by signing in with Google. It is personal: one per person, not to be shared, lent or sold.
  • You must be 15 or older, or have a parent's permission.
  • Without an account you can play as a guest. A guest account has no handle, rating or coins, lives in this browser only, and is deleted with everything in it 30 days after it was made. Signing in with Google later starts a new account.
  • What happens on your account is your responsibility: keep your Google account safe, and tell us if you think someone else uses yours.
  • You can have your account deleted at any time by writing to contact@hauntable.io from its email address.

3. Handles

Your handle is public: it shows on your profile, the leaderboards, matches, replays and tournaments. It must not impersonate anyone (a person, a brand, the game's team), be insulting, hateful, sexual or violent, contain someone's personal details or an advert, or infringe someone else's rights. We can ask you to change a handle that breaks these rules, replace it, or suspend the account.

4. Fair play and moderation

It is forbidden to:

  • cheat: bots, scripts, aiming aids, modified clients, tampering with the game's traffic;
  • use a bug for an advantage instead of reporting it;
  • rig the rankings: several accounts, arranged results, losing on purpose;
  • leave matches on purpose, which the game also penalises on its own;
  • harass other players, including with emotes, invitations or friend requests;
  • attack, overload or try to break into the servers or other players' accounts;
  • use the game for anything illegal.

Breaking these rules can lead to a warning, the removal of coins, gems or items gained unfairly, a rating reset, or the suspension or permanent ban of the account. A banned account is signed out everywhere and can no longer play. We tell you why, unless the law prevents it, and you can contest the decision by writing to contact@hauntable.io: we will look at it again. To report a player or a handle, write to the same address with the handle and what happened.

5. Coins and gems

  • Coins and gems are the game's virtual currencies. You get them by playing, as the game shows, and spend them in it, at the market or on tournaments.
  • They have no monetary value. They are not money, cannot be exchanged for money, goods or services, are never refunded, and cannot be sold or passed on outside what the game itself allows.
  • They, and the items they unlock, give you a personal right to use them in the game, not ownership.
  • We can change at any time how they are earned, what they buy and at what price. We can correct a balance that is wrong because of a bug or was gained by breaking these terms.
  • They are lost, with the items unlocked, when the account is deleted or banned.
  • Gems cannot be bought today. If they can be one day, the terms of sale will be published here first.

6. Intellectual property

The game, its code, graphics, 3D models, music, sounds and texts, and the Hauntable name and logo, belong to the publisher or their licensors: copying or reusing them needs permission. Screenshots, videos and links of your games are welcome.

7. Liability

The game is provided free and as it is. We do our best for it to work and to keep your progress, but we are not liable for interruptions, bugs, the loss of progress, coins, gems or items, what other players do, or problems coming from your device or connection. Nothing here limits a liability or a consumer right that the law does not allow to be limited.

8. Changes

We can change these terms; the date at the top of the page then changes. Important changes are announced in the game before they apply. Playing on afterwards means you accept them; if you don't, you can stop and have your account deleted.

9. Applicable law

These terms are governed by French law. In case of disagreement, write to us first so we can find a solution together. Failing that, the French courts have jurisdiction, without taking away the protection the law of your country gives you as a consumer. If the English and French versions differ, the French one prevails.
